Smoking Ceremony
Kaarl Boyi is a practice used to ensure the safe arrival of people travelling across country, the smoke wards off Wara Wirrin (Bad Spirits).
The use of Wanil (Peppermint), Marri (Tuart) or Beetjina (White Gum) leaves, are collected and placed on the Kaarl-Djaaliny (Flame) to create the cleansing from the Djardak Kaarl Boyi (White Fire Smoke).
Due to cultural protocols, the responsibility belongs to esteemed community members with extensive cultural knowledge and experience, they are required to perform this ceremony respectfully.
